StretchMetal is a nonprofit resource network, label, and concert series promoting emerging artists in the ever-evolving landscape of abstract sound. Initially formed from the roots of drone-making and ambient traditions of intentional duration and genre-bending sound, we strive to nurture any performers who facilitate holding space for both performers and audiences sensitive to sound and performance style.
StretchMetal’s work is realized through record releases, live music programming, audio/visual immersive experiences, and music educational workshops that foster unique environments for artists to develop in community via social and aural dynamics that welcome all. StretchMetal operates as an ethereal presence across multiple locations, anchored by our flagship programming in Chicago and the Hudson Valley, with satellite events in New York City, Los Angeles, and the Pacific Northwest.
